Mary Stewart, age 63, of Douglas, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Stewart was born on May 31, 1953, in Douglas to the late Neal Griffis and Oletha Whitley Griffis.

Survivors include: her significant other, Gene Hollinger of Douglas, Ga.; son, Travis Stewart of Douglas, Ga.; daughter, Brandi Stewart Thomas of Uvalda, Ga.; three brothers, Tony Griffis of Daytona Beach, Fla., Roger Griffis of Douglas, Ga., and Stanley Griffis of Douglas, Ga.; six grandchildren, Travis Dion Stewart, Jr. of Douglas, Ga., Shyan Stewart of Douglas, Ga., Kortney Highsmith of Broxton, Ga., Erika Barrow of Vidalia, Ga., Sierra Riner of Vidalia, Ga., and Kyle Stewart of Uvalda, Ga.; five great-grandchildren, Vanaleigh Martin, Aydan Rigdon, Koleson Barrow, Kynleigh Lott, and Alivia Lott; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Stewart; brother, Carroll Griffis; and a great granddaughter, Brilynn Highsmith.

Funeral services were held on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. Casey Wright officiating. Interment followed at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery. Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
