Mr. James Owen Cumbass, Sr., age 85, of Douglas passed away Monday evening, May 22, 2017, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born February 23, 1932 to the late Pearlie Cumbass and the late Missouri Ricketson Cumbass. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Nell Minix Cumbass; a son,
Ronald Cumbass; and two brothers, Clyde Cumbass and Joseph Cumbass.
Mr. Cumbass was a native of Coffee County. He was a retired logger. He had also delivered pulpwood for many years. Mr. Cumbass attended Salem Holiness Baptist Church.
Survivors include: Sons James Owen Cumbass, Jr. of Douglas, GA and Daryl Cumbass and wife Judy of Pearson, GA; grandson Michael Cumbass and wife Holly of Douglas, GA; daughter-in-law Marsha Cumbass of Douglas, GA; great -granddaughters Chasity Cumbass and Adalynn Cumbass, both of Douglas, GA; brother Aubrey Cumbass of Ambrose, GA; sister Glynis Carver of Douglas, GA; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The funeral service was held Wednesday morning, May 24, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Salem Holiness Baptist Church with Rev. Marshall Adcock officiating. The interment followed in Salem Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were: Wade Tanner, Van Russell, Billy Harper, Albert Watson, Gary Lott, and Shane Cumbass.
Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
