Michael Kenneth Sears, age 57, of Douglas, passed away Friday morning, May 26, 2017, at his residence following a short illness. He was born August 13, 1959 to the late Roger Hugh Sears and the late Oda Carver Sears. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Sears and a grandson, Gabriel Christian Garcia.

Mr. Sears, a native of Coffee County, was a heavy equipment operator with Spires Construction. He was an avid fisherman and he enjoyed his family and friends.

Survivors include: Wife Susan Annette Odum Sears of Douglas; children Michael Adam (Jewel) Sears, Raven Cheyenne (Rolando) Garcia, Michele Leigh (Franky) Spivey, and William Zachery (Cara) Whitley, all of Douglas, Holly Vanessa Bowles and friend Phillip Music of Alma, Joshua Clark (Ashley) Nobles of Waycross, Sandy Denise (Ramiro) Toevar of Tifton, William (Stephanie) Bedgood of Pearson, and Freddie Sears of Douglas; 27 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Roger Calvin Sears of Douglas; sister Marie Matthews of Douglas; fur baby Rusty Sears; special friends Wade English, Walt and Josephine Myles, and Charlie Spivey, all of Douglas, and Kevin Bullock of Fitzgerald; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service was held Monday, May 29, 2017, at 3:00 P.M. at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. George Bennett officiating. The interment followed in Satilla Memorial Gardens.

Active Pallbearers were: Russell Smith, Kristopher McKinnon, William Bedgood, Zach Whitley, Rolando Garcia, Terry English and Charlie Spivey.

Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
