On Tuesday June 13, 2017, Brian Norris, President of the Douglas Lions Club, presented the City of Douglas and Douglas Coffee County Parks and Recreation Department with a check of $3,000 for the construction of the Miracle Field. “We are very appreciative of this donation from Douglas Lions Club,” says Stevie Young, Parks and Recreation Director. “Their donation will help keep us moving forward with our plans to build our Miracle Field for our disabled and special needs citizens and for others from surrounding counties to enjoy.”

Teaming with the Miracle League and community partners such as Douglas Lions Club, Douglas’s Miracle Field will be built to create a safe and positive environment for special needs children and adults in the Douglas community, as well as surrounding cities, to enjoy. The ballfield and playground will be built at Davis Wade Park for special needs children and adults to enjoy. To enable play and help prevent injuries to special needs players, the field must have specialized turf and equipment to accommodate children and adults with disabilities. The program will cost approximately $750,000 for construction of the field and playground. Donations are being accepted from businesses, organizations, and individuals. For more information about Douglas’ Miracle Field and League, contact Stevie Young, at Douglas-Coffee County Parks and Recreation Department at 912-384-5978.
