Suspect wanted for child cruelty, battery turns himself in

A man wanted on child cruelty and battery against a pregnant female charges stemming from an incident earlier this week turned himself in to Coffee County authorities Friday morning.

Deputies responded to the intersection of Highway 135 and Red McKinnon Road just prior to 3 p.m., June 18, in reference to a male beating a female and dragging her out of a car. Deputies made contact with the 29-year-old victim at the scene, who was walking northbound on 135 at the time. The victim sated that she and the offender, identified as 29-year-old Antwoine Maurice Miller of Douglas, were riding down the highway when they got into a verbal altercation. She added that Miller struck her in the face, pulled her hair, and dragged her from the car, leaving her in the roadway and driving away from the scene with a two-year-old child in the backseat.

Deputies observed visible injuries to the victim and issued a lookout for Miller and the vehicle at the time. She was transported by deputies from the scene to the residence of a relative. Miller was booked into the Coffee County Jail shortly after 6 a.m. Friday. He has been charged with one count of battery against a pregnant female and one count of third degree cruelty to children.
