Mary “Mimi” Andrews, age 75, of Douglas, Ga. passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Andrews was born on August 19, 1941, in Douglas, Ga. to the late Sidney Major Stewart and Mary Vienna Royals Stewart.
Survivors include: her daughters: Lynda Newbern of Douglas, Ga. and Lisa (Steve) Faulkner of West Green, Ga.; grandchildren: Meredith (Quiness) Carver of Nicholls, Ga., Joey Barfield, Jr. of Douglas, Ga., Chris (Tracey) Barfield of Douglas, Ga., Brandon (Lauren) Barfield of Broxton, Ga., Wade “Bryan” Strickland, III of Broxton, Ga., Chelsea Courson of Douglas, Ga., Chrissy Sierra of Douglas, Ga., and Haley Strickland of Douglas, Ga.; great-grandchildren: Devin Carver, Ty Carver, Ashton Strickland, Peyton Strickland, Paisley Spires, Ella Courson, Amelia Barfield, Braden Mobley, Ashton Carman, Zoe Thompson, and Aaron Carelock; daughter-in-law, Becky Martinez; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Lloyd “George” Newbern, Jr.
Funeral service was held on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. John Carver officiating. Interment followed at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery.
Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
