Vernelle Tanner, age 87, of Douglas, Ga. passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Shady Acres following an extended illness. Mrs. Tanner was born on June 11, 1930, in Douglas, Ga. to the late Thomas Roberts and Georgia Mae Atkinson Roberts.
Survivors include: her daughter, Lynn (Tommy) Harrell of Douglas, Ga.; son, Richard (Linda) Tanner of Crawfordville, Fl.; grandchildren: Christina Berry, Jodie Tanner, Hanna Harrell Roberts, and Hayden Harrell; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Tanner; and a grandson, Josh Tanner.
Funeral service was held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Forest Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jimbo Steed officiating. Interment followed at Forest Grove Church Cemetery.
Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
