Douglas is proud to host its first National Night Out Against Crime along with the Summer Beach Bash and FREE concert by gospel rapper “B-Shoc” on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, during the hours of 4-9 p.m. The concert featuring “B-Shoc” will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Central Square Gym.
Bryan Edmonds, aka B-SHOC, was raised in a Christian home in Toccoa, GA. He gave his life to Jesus at a very young age. B-SHOC spent most of his childhood with a tennis racquet in his hand. He attended Garner Webb University on a tennis scholarship. At GWU, he was named All American and won an NCCAA College Championship.
Introduced to Hip Hop, he fell in love with music at age 16. Pursuing a music career and after many years in the studio and mastering his talent, the music developed a whole new lifestyle for him, which landed him in the night clubs many nights of the week. As his success grew, and he partook of the lifestyle that came with it, depression crept in. He made the decision to leave the night scene and began writing and recording music about Jesus and his life using the same style of beat. Even though he knew his “hip hop gospel music” was not popular in churches, and that critics would arise, he was still dedicated to doing God’s will for his life.
Since then many doors have opened for B-SHOC. He has released several albums and some of his more notable songs include “Jesus Lean” and “He’s Coming Back.” He travels the country, packing concerts full of energy and excitement for Jesus. Through his concerts and music, he prays more people come to know Jesus and develop a closer relationship with Him. He gives his strong faith in God credit for all his accomplishments.
In addition to the concert, the Douglas Police Department and Douglas Fire Department will have outreach activities taking place such as Child Identification Program, public safety vehicles on display, the See Something, Say Something “Lights On Means Light Out for Crime” initiative, and the Fire Department’s educational “Hot House”. Summer Beach Bash activities will be taking place from 4– 8 p.m. and will include water slides, face painting, pony rides, and more fun activities. For more information, please call 912- 384-3302.
