Hortense Reaves Day, age 97, of Douglas, Ga. passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Day was born on February 27, 1920, in Jacksonville, Ga. to the late William Jackson Garrison and Charlotte Wall Garrison.

Survivors include: her daughters: Charlotte V. (David) Nettles of Willacoochee, Ga., Nell R. (David) Green of Jacksonville, Fla., Kay (Joel Parrish) Reaves of Douglas, Ga., and Sharon (Mike) Harper of Macon, Ga.; sons, Roger (Marrie) Reaves of Santa Barbara, Ca. and Larry (Laura) Reaves of Virginia Beach, Va.; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, William J. Reaves and George Day; a daughter, Marijo Steverson; several brothers and sisters.

Funeral Service was held on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Den Weniger officiating. Interment followed at Bethlehem (Sand Hill) Methodist Church Cemetery.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
