As many citizens are out clearing yard debris, left by Tropical Storm Irma, the City of Douglas encourages everyone to be safe and not to do anything that would endanger themselves or interrupt the flow of power to residents.

“If you do not have the proper know how, to cut down trees or remove hanging limbs, please seek professional help from a private Tree Surgeon”, says Terrell Jacobs, City Manager. “The City of Douglas will not be responsible for cutting trees or removing fallen debris from private property, only what is placed along the curbside for collection”.

Yard debris, known as leaf and limb, should properly be placed near curbside for collection.  Our Public Works Department will pick up as soon as possible and staff will continue to work regular hours to pick up the accumulation of debris, from curbside.  If you have a massive amount to be collected, please call Public Works to schedule a pickup at 389-3450 or our Customer Care Center by dialing 3-1-1 or 384-3302.

Transwaste is on schedule with sanitation and recycling collection for the week of September 11, 2017. If your cart is not emptied by mid-morning, please leave your cart out and it will be collected by evening or next morning.  Questions call 384-6001.
