The City of Douglas would like to notify citizens that all offices of the City of Douglas will open tomorrow for normal business and services.  “Now that the serve storm has passed our area and employees have had time to take care of their personal affairs, we are calling all employees back to work,” says Douglas City Manager, Terrell Jacobs.  “There may be employees who are still not able to safely pass through rights-of-way, due to post effects of the storm.  If this is the case, employees should immediately notify their supervisor or director.”

City leaders are aware that some citizens still may not have power and are not back their everyday way of living.  Please continue to be patient and know that the utility linemen and other essential employees have worked through the storm, overseeing shelter operations to restoring power and water services, to the removal of large limbs from roadways.  All of this was done to done to provide relief to evacuees and to our citizens. We appreciate the patience of our citizens and adherence to the curfews and safety advisories, given local authorities.

The regular scheduled City Commission Meeting for Monday, September 11, 2017 is rescheduled for this Thursday, September 14, 2017 with the Work Session beginning at 6 p.m. and meeting at 7 p.m.  All City Commission Meetings are held in the Council Room at City Hall, 224 E. Bryan Street.

CITY OF DOUGLAS CONDUCTS WEATHER ASSESSMENT

The City of Douglas would like to advise citizens that personnel, from the offices of Code Enforcement and City Marshal, will be going to each neighborhood compiling information for a Storm Assessment Report.  Employees can easily be identified by their uniform or city marked vehicle.  We ask that you do not be alarmed if you see these workers around your home and if they knock on your door to ask questions.

For any concerns or compliments to the City of Douglas please visit our website, www.cityofdouglas.com or call our Customer Care Center at 3-1-1 or 384-3302.
