Mr. Benny Joe Peterson, age 81, of Douglas, GA passed away Wednesday afternoon, September 20, 2017 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Peterson was born in Coffee County on April 15, 1936 to the late Rexford Peterson and the late Bernice Baker Peterson Wall Anderson.

He had been self-employed for many years in the transportation of and setup of mobile homes. He was a United States Navy Veteran.

Mr. Peterson was a member of West Ward Church of God.

Survivors include: his wife, Eulene Purvis Peterson of Douglas, GA; sons: Rodney Neal Peterson and Mark Harper both of Douglas, GA; grandchildren: Savannah (Raul) Torres, Kirk Peterson, Kollin Peterson, Marina Harper and Ephraim Harper all of Douglas, GA; great-grandchildren: Phoenix Torres and Jeremy Harper both of Douglas, GA; sisters: Margaret (Jimmy) Tuten of Blackshear, GA, Patsy Day of Ambrose, GA, Joan Wall of Douglas, GA; sister-in-laws: Maudine Wright, Annelle (Loran) Shrouder and Dale (Wendell) Batten all of Douglas, GA; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held Friday, September 22, 2017 at 2 p.m. at West Ward Church of God with Rev. Britt Peavy officiating. The interment will follow in Satilla Memorial Gardens. Mr. Peterson will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. to lie in state until the funeral hour.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
