The Annual Community Health and Wellness Day will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Coffee Regional Medical Center at 1101 Ocilla Road, Douglas GA.  Coffee Regional Medical Center, the City of Douglas and the Coffee County Health Department have joined forces for an exposition planned to improve the overall health, wellness, and safety of our community.  With numerous vendors, demonstrations, health screenings and outside kid’s activities including jump castles, slides, face painting and corn hole, it will be a wonderful interactive way for local agencies and businesses to promote a healthy lifestyle.  There will be tons of activities for the entire family to join in.

Coffee Regional will be offering biochemical blood profiles (for best results fast for a minimum of 8 hours before test) for a reduced fee of $30.00.  Vending will be provided after blood work is complete.  Be sure to take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about fitness, nutrition, recreation, mental health and personal safety measures, including a drive-through car seat safety check.  Some of the offerings are as follows: the Coffee County Health Department will be offering flu shots; Surchero’s – healthy food options; Audibel – hearing screens; and South Georgia Dentistry-dental screenings. Blood pressure checks, glucose checks, skin screenings and more will be available.

In addition to our traditional activities, the first annual Health & Wellness Day 5k Run & 1.5 Mile walk will be hosted by the Wellness Center, Coffee Health Alliance and Beta Sigma Phi- Alpha Theta Chapter.  The event will start at 7:45 a.m. in the Coffee Regional Parking lot.  Overall, male and female winners will receive a $100 Gift Card.   All runners will have an opportunity to win 5k medals for five-year age divisions for both male and female divisions.  Refreshments, T-shirts and door prizes will be presented to all participants.  Sign up online at runsignup.com/Race/GA/Douglas/HealthWellness5kWalk, check us out on Facebook, or stop by the Wellness Center.

We look forward to seeing you at this worthwhile event.  For more information, contact the CRMC Wellness Center at 912-383-6988 or email danny.mccarty@coffeeregional.org .
