During the month of October, the City of Douglas will be offering several promotions for their customers. Throughout the month, activities will be designed to educate and show appreciation for Douglas customers.

The Douglas Fire Department is teaming up with NFPA during Fire Prevention Week, October 8-14, 2017, to spread awareness of testing smoke alarms. This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is “Every Second Counts: Plan Two Ways Out.” The purpose of the
theme is to focus on the importance of having two ways out in case of a fire in your home and/or business. Fire education programs will be offered for all ages, a poster contest for third grade students, and fire prevention presentations in the schools, daycares, and other places of business. Customers can register at City Hall for a drawing that will be held on October 27, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. for FREE smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. Tune in to local radio stations for trivia questions each day. Through these educational, familyoriented activities, residents can learn more about the importance of smoke alarms and fire safety, as well as the power of fire prevention. For more information about fire prevention week, call 912-384-4815.

The Douglas Utilities Department will be promoting Natural Gas Month throughout the month of October. In preparation for the cooler months, customers can call and schedule a FREE pilot lighting. For more information about Natural Gas month, please call
912-389-3427. Public Power week will be held Oct. 1–7, 2017. During this week, customers are encouraged to “thank a lineman” and to become more educated about the utility services that are provided by Douglas Utilities. For more information, dial 311 or 912-384-3302.

Customer Appreciation Month will be held September 25-October 27, 2017. Customers are encouraged to register for door prizes all month at City Hall. Customer Appreciation Day will be held on Friday, October 27, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at City Hall. City of Douglas customers will have the opportunity to win door prizes and enjoy FREE hotdogs, chips, and drinks. Door prizes will be given away at City Hall on Friday, October 27 at 3:30 p.m.. For more information about the 311/Customer Care Center, please dial 311 or call 384-3302.
