Martha Willene Tanner, age 77, of Nicholls, GA passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017, at Coffee Regional Medical Center, Douglas, Georgia. Mrs. Tanner was born September 28, 1940, in Washington, D.C. to the late Rexford Milton Kirkland and Lois Lee Williams Kirkland.
Survivors include: husband, Wayne Tanner of Douglas, Ga.; daughters: Vicky and her husband Jay Ryles of Nicholls, Ga., Marty and her husband Kevin Hopkins of Lincolnton, Ga.; son, Kenneth Vickers, Jr. of Nicholls, Ga.; sister, Sheila and her husband Verlon Hutchison of Douglas, Ga.; grandchildren: Shandi Dykes, Cole Hopkins, Autumn Ryles, Evan Ryles; great-grandchildren: Jonathan Dykes, Shandlee Meeks; several nieces nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rexford Kirkland; mother, Lois Kirkland; brother: Rocher Kirkland and sister-in-law, Vivian Kirkland.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the St Mark United Methodist Church where Pastor Chris Calhoun officiated.
Interment followed at Hall Cemetery.
Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
