The City of Douglas hosted its quarterly Hometown Connection meeting on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Central Square Complex. The purpose of the Douglas Hometown Connection is to create, identify, and give reference to the challenges and
opportunities facing our city.

“It is important for us to stay connected to not only local government and development agencies, but also with our state legislators”, says Terrell Jacobs, City Manager. “We are open with sharing what our city is doing so that others can better understand and appreciate our achievements and challenges”.

The meeting started with a welcome by Terrell Jacobs, City Manager, followed by an “All Aboard” bus tour. During the tour, management staff presented existing buildings and landmarks, along with future development and construction projects. Following the tour,
Jacobs gave the group an overview of all city departments and the group joined the entire management staff for the City of Douglas for lunch. In attendance was Dominic LaRiccia(State Representative District 169), Alex Hill (Field Representative for Congressman Rick Allen), Michael McPherson (Governmental Relations Associate for the Georgia Municipal Association), Dr. Ingrid Thompson-Sellers (President of South Georgia State College), Dr. Morris Leis (Coffee County Board of Education Superintendent), Dr. Greg Tanner (South Georgia State College Dean of Students), Barbara Obrentz (President of Capricorn Communications Consortium, LLC), Andrea Taylor (President of Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce), and the entire management team for the City of Douglas.
