The South Georgia State College (SGSC) swim teams kicked off their season in fine fashion this past Saturday at Thomas University. Both the men’s and women’s teams won the three-school meet against Point University and Thomas University who hosted the meet. SGSC’s men scored 604 points to Thomas University’s 500 points while the women dominated the meet tallying 593 points to second place Point University’s 264 points.

Leading the Hawks on the women’s side was freshman Jessilyn Graham who won all three of her individual events. Graham won the 50 freestyle and both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events. Also, taking first place were sophomore Jessica Dunton in the 200 fly, freshman Abigail Aldridge in the 100 fly and freshmen Casey Hall in the 500 free. For the men, sophomore Andrew Brown took two first place finishes in the 200 IM and 200 breaststroke. Ryan Buczkowski and Jackson Bloom won the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly, respectively.

The Hawks won three out of four relays on the day. Buczkowski, Bloom, Brown and Zac Elz won the 200 men’s medley relay.
