Ms. Melody Shawn Brown, age 48 of Nicholls, GA, passed away early Saturday morning October 21, 2017 at Baptist Medical Center Downtown, Jacksonville, FL following a short illness. Ms. Brown, a native of Ft. Dix, New Jersey, was born September 30, 1969 to the late Howard R. Gerson and the late Jacqueline K. Decker Gerson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Brown. Ms. Brown was a homemaker.

Survivors include: children: Robyn Gerson of Nicholls, GA, Halley Yarberry of Douglas, GA, Ashley Yarberry of West Green, GA; granddaughter, Gianana Gerson of Nicholls, GA; her companion, Paul Yarberry of Nicholls, GA; brothers: Bill Gerson, Bruce Gerson and Terry Gerson all of New Jersey; sister, Lynn Newcomer of Florida; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 for 6 to 9 p.m. at Ricketson Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in New Jersey.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
