Mrs. Ruth Lee Rawlins, age 85, of Douglas, GA passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, in Douglas, GA. Mrs. Rawlins was born on Sept. 20, 1932, in Paramount, CA to the late Henry Buchanan Gray and Georgia Luella Smith Gray.

Mrs. Ruth was a registered nurse who had 13 brothers and sisters, amongst whom she was the only redhead; she always had advice for anyone whether they were interested in hearing it or not; she had opinions about everything; she expected people to treat each other the way they would like to be treated; she loved all her children and grandchildren, and was able to enjoy her great-grandchildren; she loved her Bible study group from Deberry, which met every week at each other’s homes for many years; she was a California girl who married Broxton native Jesse James Rawlins in Sitka, Alaska and then moved with him to Georgia after marriage and their first baby; she was a keen card player; she loved talking on the phone; she enjoyed camping and hot dog roasts down at the pond; she loved getting to know other people, and enjoyed helping many people over the years who needed some love and attention; she stood up for those she felt were being taken advantage of; she loved raising her family.

The family of Mrs. Rawlins would like to give special “thank you” to Mr. Tim Harper who provided home cooked meals, coffee, and loving care that she enjoyed and loved.
