Mrs. Dora Pearl Wooten Floyd, age 92, of Broxton passed away Monday morning, November 20, 2017 at her residence, following an extended illness. Mrs. Floyd was born August 8, 1925 to the late Charlie Wooten and the late Dora Lee Cliett Wooten. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband of 49 years, Vernon T. Floyd and her husband of 12 years, Robert Warnock; sons: Johnny Wayne Floyd, Neil Joseph Floyd and Michael Floyd; siblings: Guy Wooten, Algerine Reynolds, Missouri Knight, Mary Olive Smith, Winnie Smith, C. E. Wooten, Gertrude Peacock and Richard Wooten.

Mrs. Floyd (Warnock) was a wonderful mother to her children. No matter how old they were, she was always there for them, whether it was a hot meal, a bed to sleep in, advice to give or a prayer to say, and BOY COULD SHE PRAY! The children were awakened many nights to her praying for them. When they were small, she made them clothes, always make sure they had a hot breakfast before school and a snack when they got home.
Breakfast was before she went to milk the cow(s) and feed the animals, do laundry, clean house and get something ready to cook (again). She may have been the first “supermom”!

She was a loving wife to her husband(s). A simple “thank you, honey” was enough to make her face light up. She would take care of them when they were sick and made sure they had whatever they needed, often times while she was feeling bad herself. Her and “Pete” would travel with his job sometimes and he always wanted his co-workers to come and meet his pretty wife and share a meal she cooked.

She was homemaker with a wonderful ability of cooking, gardening and crocheting. She was almost always doing one of those three while she sang of her blessed Saviour. Her cooking was always wanted by church, family and friends. Never would she turn anyone away and always made sure they had enough. Her freezers were always full of her labor of love to make sure she could provide for any church or social event. Her ability to crochet beautiful blankets, sweaters, hats, dresses, pants and booties, has been worn by many, many babies in Coffee County. Several years ago, she crocheted 30 caps for missionaries to give to babies overseas.

Survivors include: children: Vernon B. Floyd, Sue Ellen Davis and her husband, Jimmy, and Barbara Bowen and her husband, Harvey all of Douglas, GA., Mary Loiselle and her husband Frank of Ocala, FL., David M. Floyd of Broxton, GA.; step-children: Peggy Cato and her husband Raymond, Roy Warnock and his wife Donna and Rhonda Baeir; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service was held Wednesday morning, November 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Douglas Gospel Assembly Church where Rev. Allen Peacock officiated. The interment followed in Douglas Gospel Assembly Church Cemetery.
Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
