Mrs. Katie Ruth Barlow Soles, age 84, of Douglas passed away late Saturday evening, November 18, 2017 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Soles, a native of Toombs County, Georgia, was born January 24, 1933 to the late John T. Barlow and the late Sara Ann Reese Barlow. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carlie Soles, 8 Siblings: Frank Barlow, Ernest Barlow, Roy Barlow, Myrtle Cooper, Sally Woodruff, Irene Yates, Grace Smith and Lonnie Anderson.

Mrs. Barlow had been a child care provider for many years. She loved all of the children that she cared for and they loved her. She was a member of Parkview Holiness Church.

Survivors include: sons: Gary Soles and Dewayne Soles and his wife Cathy of Fitzgerald, GA., Kenny Soles of San Francisco, CA., Raymond Soles and his wife Alma of Willacoochee, GA.; daughter, Kathy Soles of Douglas, GA.; grandchildren: Dr. Brian Soles and his wife Leah of Michigan, Kevin Soles of Atlanta, GA., Lauren Day, Alisha Ann Day, Ruth Ann Day and Laurence Virgil Allen Day all of Douglas, GA., Brian Champion of Virginia, Mike Champion and Nathan Champion both of Fitzgerald, GA.; great grandchildren: Charlotte Soles and Clara Soles both of Michigan, Chelsea Champion and Payton Purcell both of Fitzgerald, GA.; special friends: Laurence and Alice Day of Douglas, GA.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service was held Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home where Rev. Ben Culpepper and Rev. Hershell Smith officiated. The interment followed in Hebron Cemetery.

Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
