Mr. Lamar Davis, age 77 of Douglas, passed away Tuesday morning, November 28, 2017, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Davis, a native of Kirkland, GA, was born on October 9, 1940 to the late Jeff Davis and the late Willie Mae Carter Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Helen Earline Prescott Davis; brother, Jeff Lawton Davis; and sister, Loretha Harmer.

Mr. Davis was self-employed as a trucker with Davis Trucking. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include: daughters: Barbara Davis Baker of Milton, FL., Rosie Davis Merritt of Douglas, GA.; siblings: Lois Peacock of Jacksonville, FL., Melvin Davis of Lumber City, GA., Wayne Davis and Tommy Davis both of Douglas, GA.; grandchildren: Chasidy R. Merritt of Douglas, GA., Cindi Baker Lowery of Milton, FL.; great grandchildren: Matthew Baker of Anchorage, AK., Zach Baker of Memphis, TN., Joe Lowery of Milton, FL.; great great grand child, Jace Baker of Anchorage, AK.; special friend of 25 years, Peggy Aldridge of Douglas, GA.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be Thursday, November 30, 2017, at 2 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Michael Jackson officiating. The interment will follow at Royals Cemetery in Atkinson County with Tommy Davis conducting the committal service.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
