Hundreds of Future Farmers of America(FFA) members gathered at the Georgia National Fairgrounds. They went to a leadership meeting, rode rides and competed in several competitions, including Floral Design. Among the junior competitors were two students from the George Washington Carver Freshman Campus(GWFCC): Abbigail “Abbi’ Vaughn and Natalie Grantham.

About 30 students from Georgia competed at this competition. Grantham placed first, and Vaughn was closely behind in second. Competitors had to design a floral arrangement around a theme. This year’s theme was “Sensory Gardens”, which meant they had to create arrangements which appealed to the five senses. Both girls created beautiful arrangements that really showcased their abilities. Grantham stated, “I am very proud of how I performed at the fair this year. I feel that I showcased my skills and our school very well.”

GWCFCC FFA sponsor, Mr. Spencer Highsmith, is very proud of his two competitors and how greatly they represented our school and chapter. The Perry Fair is a great opportunity for all competitors to practice their skills. It gives them a great opportunity to prepare themselves for the other competitions that they compete in each year.
