Mr. Tidwell Carter, Sr. age 75 of Douglas, GA, passed away late Monday night, December 4, 2017, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a short illness. Mr. Carter was born March 11, 1942 to the late Kermit Carter and the late Gladys Westberry Carter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Eugene Carter, Steve Carter and Quitman Carter.

Mr. Carter was the founder and owner of the original Carter’s Fried Chicken in Douglas and throughout South Georgia. He gave all credit for the success of the business to his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He was of the Holiness Baptist Faith.

Survivors include: his wife, Patsy Faye Cravey Carter of Douglas, GA; children: Felicia Lott and her husband Burke, Tidwell Carter, Jr. and his wife Crystal, Cathy Vickers and her husband Lewis all of Douglas, GA; brothers: Twyman Carter of Douglas, GA., Roosevelt “Boots” Carter of Fitzgerald, GA.; sisters: Ethamae Cumbass of Ambrose, GA., Sara Ann Anderson of Nicholls, GA.; grandchildren: Dillon Cain Carter, Asher Colt Carter, Lewis Wesley Vickers, Andrew Carter Vickers and Brock Allen Vickers all of Douglas, GA., Isaac Price Carter of West Green, GA.; great grand Children: Case Carter of Douglas, GA and Hayden Gillis of Nicholls, GA.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with Rev. Edsel Young and Lawrence Lott officiating. The interment will follow at Douglas City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, December 6, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m.. at Ricketson Funeral Home.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
