Mr. James Morgan, Sr., age 85 of Douglas, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 27, 2017, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Morgan was born June 6, 1932, to the late Elijah Morgan and the late Mae Murray Morgan. In addition to his parents, Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by: brothers: Elzie Morgan and Clayton Morgan; and sister, Alma Royals. 

Mr. Morgan, a native of Atkinson County, was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation where he worked as a shop supervisor. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Also, he was a member of the Masons and the American Legion.

Mr. Morgan was a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include: son, James Morgan, Jr. and his wife Deidra of Junction City, Kansas; daughter, Anita Carol Tillman and her husband Tom of Monticello, GA; sister, Doll McKinnon of Douglas, GA; grandchildren: Kyle, Luke, Derek and Jill Morgan, Morgan and Will Tillman; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service was held Sunday, December 31, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Atkinson County where Rev. Bobby Fussell officiated. The interment followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
