Mrs. Margaret Porter Merritt Morgan, age 75, of Cotton, GA passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017, at her home following a brief illness.  Mrs.Morgan a native of Coffee County, GA was born on October 16, 1942, to the late Eli Manning Porter and Lila Smith-Porter.

Survivors include: former husband (companion) and father of her children, Elmer Merritt, Jr. of Cotton, GA.; daughters: Debra (Tom) Windhausen of Cotton, GA. and Pam (Mike) Sirmons of Arlington, GA.; brothers: L. C. (Elizabeth) Porter of Douglas, GA. and Jerry Porter of CA.; grandchildren: Christopher (Jamie) Cannon of Tallahassee, FL., Michael (Erica) Sirmons, Jr of Naylor, GA., Brian (Crystal) Sirmons of Colquitt, GA. and Kristi Whiddon of  Pavo, GA.; great-grandchildren: Allena and Allana Lawson of Cotton, GA, Alexis Cannon of Pelham, GA, Layla Cannon of Tallahasssee, FL, Kadence and Kierstin Whiddon of Pavo, GA, Brandon Sirmons of Naylor, GA, Keely Sirmons of England, Natalie Sirmons of Colquitt, GA, Keith and Kyle Sirmons of AL; brothers-in-law: Earl Merritt of Douglas, GA and Marshall Merritt of Boston, GA; sister-in-law, Faye Cantou of TX; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by: husband, Bailey Morgan; father, Eli Manning Porter; mother, Lila Smith-Porter; and sister-in-law, Jerlean Davis Porter.

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home where Rev. Allen Peacock officiated. Interment followed in the Douglas City Cemetery.
