Elected officials from Douglas were among the hundreds of city, county and state officials to attend the Okefenokee Occasion event in Atlanta on Jan. 10, 2018. The annual event provides city officials with an opportunity for one on one talks with legislators about legislation under consideration and special projects that affect the local community.

“Attending the Okefenokee Occasion event allows local leaders an opportune time to share Douglas and Coffee County’s issues with the hopes the legislators will keep them as a top priority while in session,” says Mayor Tony Paulk.

The Okefenokee Occasion committee consists of members from 17 counties of the Southeast Georgia Regional Commission which include Appling, Atkinson, Ben Hill, Berrien, Brantley, Brooks, Charlton, Clinch, Coffee, Cook, Jeff Davis, Lanier, Pierce, Tift, Turner,
Ware, and Wayne County.
