Help us FIGHT FLU!! Flu activity is widespread and we must all take action to prevent further spread. In an attempt to protect patients, visitors, and staff of CRMC from illness, Coffee Regional Medical Center has implemented restrictions on hospital visitors for the remainder of this flu season. We are asking that you refrain from visiting unless you are an immediate family member and/or significant other. Children under the age of 18 will also be restricted from visiting. Anyone with flu-like symptoms including a cough, fever, sore throat, nasal or respiratory congestion or other such symptoms should NOT visit any patients. If you are ill and must visit, please ask for a mask and wear it while on the premises.

If you have not gotten the flu shot, it is highly recommended that you get that as soon as possible. According to the CDC, everyone 6 months and older should receive a yearly flu vaccine.

Shelly McLean, VP of Operations at CRMC, said “We are responding to the high volumes of flu and gastrointestinal illnesses present in our community and feel it is best for our patients, visitors, and staff to have restricted visitors at CRMC at this time. We hope these efforts will help limit the spread of these illnesses.”

The CDC provides important information on increasing your chances of remaining healthy and slowing the spread of illness. This includes keeping your hands clean by frequent washing and using hand sanitizer. Keeping your hands away from you nose, eyes, and mouth is the best way to prevent the spread of germs. Avoiding large crowds and staying at home if you feel any sign of illness is important. If you or anyone in your family is ill, stay at home and disinfect common surfaces and surroundings in your home to help avoid the spread.
