Dr. James W Barber, orthopaedic surgeon and owner of Southeastern Orthopedics in Douglas, GA, continues to play a pivotal role in Georgias’ orthopaedic scene as he accepted a new professional leadership role recently. Dr. Barber will serve as President for the 2017-2018 Board of Directors of the Georgia Orthopaedic Society (GOS).

“It is a great honor and privilege to represent orthopaedic surgeons in the state as the president of the Georgia Orthopaedic Society in 2018,” says James Barber M.D. “I would like to express my sincere thanks for the widespread support that I have received from my fellow physicians, especially my colleagues at Coffee Regional Medical Center.”

Dr. Barber stresses that, “I will work with lawmakers, regulators and other stakeholder groups to improve Georgia’s health care system, and I will strive to be an effective advocate for our patients and our profession – especially when it comes to improving the practice environment and ensuring our patients have access to the best-possible medical care, particularly in rural areas.”

The GOS is committed to helping Georgia orthopaedic surgeons provide quality care and lead rewarding professional lives. The society offers orthopaedic surgeons educational programs on clinical and practice management topics, conducts advocacy efforts on behalf of orthopaedic surgeons and patients, provides opportunities to foster both personal and professional relations among orthopaedic surgeons, and promotes the specialty of orthopaedic surgery to the general public.
