Coffee County Family Connection, which has been a part of Coffee County Schools for over 25 years, hosted its second annual Celebrity Dinner on Saturday Feb. 3, 2018, at the Coffee High School Cafetorium.

Family Connection, which assists children and families in the school district as well as the community, is funded annually through various grants. To assist in subsidizing the various programs, all of the proceeds from the Celebrity Dinner will be used to assist their outreach programs such as Teen Maze, Red Ribbon Week, Imagine Me, Life Skills Classes and many more. The star-studded night was filled with entertainment by local celebrity impersonators. Performing celebrities were Brandon Musgrove as Bob Seger with the Silver Bullet Band, Linda Bryan as Dolly Parton, Matt Rutland as Elvis, Calli Hobbs as Kelsea Ballerini, Jay Turk and Madison Dill as Danny and Sandy from “Grease” and Coffee County’s very own Willie Spence accompanied by Terrell Jacobs as Steve Harvey.  Other celebrities were Pam Turk and Debbie Luke as Lucy and Ethel, Kim Cook, Sue Farmer and Mary Preston as Charlie’s Angels, Ray Coleman as Gomer Pyle, Bryan Preston and Stan Hughes as Kirby Smart and Coach Scott Sinclair “aka belt holder.”  The People’s Choice Award went to Pam Turk and Debbie Luke as Lucy and Ethel.  Coach Pruitt and the Coffee High School Trojans were also recognized as local celebrities for their outstanding season reaching second place in the state 6-AAAAAA Championship. Kim Clayton, Director of Personnel and Public Relations for the school district and Terrell Jacobs, Douglas City Manager, did an outstanding job serving as the celebrity hosts interviewing celebrities as they walked the red carpet.

Jenny and Jimmy Spivey catered a delicious meal with assistance from Saving Grace Ministries and their youth as the servers.

Guests had the opportunity to participate in a silent auction with very generous items donated by numerous businesses throughout the community. Door prizes were also donated by Walmart Distribution Center, who provided a 32-inch television and a Superbowl Party Pack. One Blood donated a Gift Basket and Tracie Hobbs donated a $50 LulaRoe gift certificate. Door prize winners were Patty Miller, Tim Thomason, Suzy Leis, and Debbie Carver.

April Thomason, Director of Coffee County Family Connection, would like to thank everyone who helped make this event an entertaining, enjoyable and successful event for our community. April, along with her staff look forward to seeing everyone next year.
