The South Georgia State College (SGSC) Hawks softball program will offer a softball day camp for campers in first through eighth grades Monday, June 4 – Friday, June 8, 2018. The camp will be held at the Hawks’ Nest softball field on the Douglas campus of SGSC located at 100 West College Park Drive in Douglas, Georgia.

Camp begins at 8 a.m. each day and ends at 12:30 p.m. Campers should arrive at least ten minutes prior to camp and will be dismissed promptly at 12:30 p.m. for pick-up.

The staff is committed to teaching fundamental skills and tactics to players of all ages and abilities in a positive and fun environment. Training sessions are conducted by current Hawks’ coaching staff and players whose goal is to provide quality individual and group instruction while emphasizing character and sportsmanship.

Campers should have comfortable clothes for working out. Cleats are not required, but attendees should have a glove, a batting helmet, a bat and a water bottle with their name on it.

If it is raining when you drop your camper off, we will begin camp at our covered hitting facility. If there is lightning during camp, all campers will be moved to safety and once it stops, we will continue camp. Players must bring appropriate footwear for any indoor activities, i.e. sneakers or turf shoes.

South Georgia State Softball camps and clinics are open to any and all entrants within the age specifications listed, on a first come first served basis. For camp information and to register, go to collegesoftballcamps.com/sgschawks.

The staff members will include Hawks Head Coach Jeff Savage as director. He brings over 30 years of camp and clinic experience and has held camps and clinics all over the country. Coach Savage is a former Division I Softball Head Coach at Delaware State University for 13 seasons. Coach Janice Savage will be lead instructor. She is a former Division I Head Softball Coach at Appalachian State and Delaware State University. She also played professional softball in the Italian Professional League.
