On Friday, Feb. 16, several citizens and community leaders attended the Douglas Visitor Information Center’s Camellia Garden “Georgia Camellia Trail” listing and bench dedication.

The historic camellia garden is one of the gardens listed on Georgia’s Camellia Trail and has 11 camellias for visitors to enjoy during the winter season.  The Class of 1988 honored longtime camellia enthusiast Clayton Mathis posthumously with a one of kind bench that was placed in the garden.

Attendees enjoyed refreshments and a small camellia showcase inside the Visitor Information Center.  Special thanks go to the Douglas Garden Club, the Atlantic Coast Camellia Society, GDEcD, Stacy Roberson/Class of 1988, and everyone who attended.
