Kenneth Wayne Collins, age 70, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018, at Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia after struggling with illnesses for the last few years. From his birth on August 8, 1947, in Hamilton, Georgia to his death, Mr. Collins nourished people around him with love, faith and laughter. Mr. Collins was born to the late Thomas Collins and Juliaette Phillips Watford. He proudly served in the United States Navy. He worked as a golf course superintendent, salesman, and business owner and operator in agronomy. He retired in 2004 when he and his wife, Patricia “Dale” Collins, moved to Douglas, Georgia. Since moving to Douglas, Georgia, Mr. Collins enjoyed serving as a member of the First Baptist Church in Douglas, Georgia, and volunteering his time with the Coffee Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.
He is survived by: his wife, Patricia “Dale” Collins of Douglas, Georgia; sons: Christopher Scott (Katie) Collins of Hamilton, Georgia, Johnathan David Collins of Hamilton, Georgia, and Bradley Leonard (Danielle) Collins of Waycross, Georgia; sisters: Wanda (Donnie) Estes of Manchester, Georgia, Trudy Mooneyham of Pine Mountain, Georgia and Teresa Worsley of Warm Springs, Georgia; grandchildren: Johnathon Chase Collins, Ansley Claire Collins and Benjamin Lewis Collins; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Collins will be remembered as a hard-working provider for his family, a loving and joyful man to others and most of all as a faithful Christian servant.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 2 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Douglas, Georgia, with Rev. Shep Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 17, 2018 after the service in the Social Hall at First Baptist Church.
