CERTIFIED TEEN LEADER TRAINING

Coffee and Bacon County 6th-11th grade 4-H members who have never taken the Certified Teen Leader Training need to register to take the course this summer on Wednesday, June 20. The cost for the training is $15 and it will be held in Alma. This training is required of any Junior or Senior 4-H member who is interested in serving as a teen leader at any out of town 4-H event.

CLOVERS & CO. APPLICATIONS

Talented musicians, singers, and dancers are encouraged to apply and audition for Georgia 4‑H Clovers & Co. Clovers & Co. is a group of talented students who perform at various 4-H functions as well as other events throughout the state (like the Georgia National Fair). Applications are now available on the Georgia 4-H website and are due by mid-May, Auditions will be held at Rock Eagle 4‑H Center in early June.

GEORGIA 4-H PHOTO CONTESTS

Each year, Georgia 4-H offers four contests for members who are interested in photography. Photos can be made with any type of camera that produces a negative or digital file. The images cannot be altered, but slight cropping, trimming, or red eye reduction are allowed. Entries for the photo contest must be uploaded and registered by the county 4-H staff no later than June 1. (May 1 for points.)

The four contests include Focus on Agriculture (farming related), Focus on 4‑H (4‑H related), Focus on 4‑H Service (4‑H community service related), and 4‑H Photography Contest (any subject matter). The Focus on 4-H and Focus on 4-H Service contests are also open to adults.

Remember, the photos must be taken by the person who is submitting them. There are great opportunities to get photos year round in South Georgia, so take advantage of this opportunity and get some great photos to enter into this contest. Visit the Coffee County 4‑H website under web links for the photo contest rules.

DAIRY POSTER CONTEST

The theme for this year’s Dairy Poster Contest is “Undeniably Dairy-How Do You Love Your Dairy?” 4-H members can create a poster depicting this theme for a chance to win gift cards. Posters can only be 14″ x 22″ in size. Prizes of gift cards are given for each age division [Cloverleaf (4th-6th grades), Junior (7th-8th grades), & Senior (9th-12th grades)]. Gift cards are $100 for 1st, $75 for 2nd, and $50 for 3rd.

REWARD TRIP

The date for this year’s 4-H Reward Trip is set for Wednesday, May 30. We will go to Wild Adventures again this year which will give you the option to ride the rides, go to the water park, and see the exotic animals. Because the trip is to Wild Adventures, 4-H members will be expected to pay for half the cost of the admission fee. We expect that to be around $15. If you have a season pass, please let us know when you sign up and you will be exempt from this fee. Sign up deadline is Friday, May 11.

If you would like to learn how you can become more involved with the Coffee County 4-H program, please contact the Coffee County Extension office at (912) 384-1402 or visit our website at http://coffee4h.org.
