Johnny Hester, age 69, of Douglas, GA passed away on Saturday May 5, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Hester was born on April 21, 1949 in Coffee County, GA the son of Lera Mixon Dean and the late Buster Hester.

He worked as a mechanic and was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam Conflict.

He was preceded in death by: two step-fathers: James Hamilton and James A. Dean; and brothers: Freeman Hester, Billy Hester and Richard Hester.

Survivors include: his mother, Lera M. Dean of Douglas, GA; daughters: Bridgette Anderson and husband Tim and Melissa Watkins and husband Mathew both of Douglas, GA.; grandchildren: Sabrina Anderson, Lonnie Anderson, Austin Herrington, Shala Herrington, Isabella Sloan, Helen Sloan and Levi Sloan all of Douglas, GA; brothers: Bobby Hester and Jimmy Hester both from Douglas, GA and Dewayne Dean of Nicholls, GA; sisters: Martha Rebecca Anderson of Nicholls, GA, Patricia Ann Arnold, Debra Davis and Vickie Dean all from Douglas, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held on Tuesday May 8, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Anderson Cemetery where Rev. Johnny Smith officiated.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
