Gayle C. Bannister, age 70, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Satilla Memorial Hospital, Waycross, Georgia following an extended illness. Mrs. Bannister was born on December 3, 1947, in Cochran, Georgia the daughter of the late David L. Collins and Bertha Fountain Collins.

She worked as a Bookkeeper with Ameris Bank and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Douglas, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by: a son, Dusty Bannister.

Survivors include: her husband, Clemon “Bo” Bannister of Douglas, GA; daughters: Stacey L. Farrell and husband Chuck of Leesburg, GA and Kelli G. Schlegel and husband Earl of Leesburg, GA; sister, Carolyn C. Dykes of Byron, GA; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; acquired sisters: Betty Lowder and husband Glen of Valdosta, GA, Delaine Thomas of Jacksonville, FL and Linda Johnson and husband Jack of Thomasville, GA.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home where Rev. Shep Johnson officiated. Interment followed at 3 p.m. at Trail Branch Church Cemetery in Cochran, GA where Elder Blaine Pearce officiated.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
