Mr. E. D. Brown, Sr., age 91 of Douglas, passed away late Monday evening, July 2, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Brown was born November 8, 1926 to the late William Thomas Brown and the late Earnie Jane Manning Brown.
Mr. Brown, a native of Brantley County, retired after 30 plus years from the Georgia-Florida Railroad System. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II.
Mr. Brown was a member of The Sanctuary on Waldroup Avenue.
Survivors include: sons: Irwin Brown, Evan Brown and Robert Brown all of Douglas, GA.; daughter, Kay Daniels of Tifton, GA; several extended family members and close friends
The funeral service was held Friday morning, July 6, 2018, at 11 A.M. at The Sanctuary on Waldroup Avenue where Rev. Bob Powell and Rev. Barry Peavy officiated. A Special Eulogy was given by a son, Evan Brown. The interment followed at 2:30 P.M. at Laura Chapel Church Cemetery near Patterson, GA.
Active Pallbearers were: Fernando Alejandro, Shannon Woods, Leslie Brown, Zach Yagiji, Evan Brown, Robert Tanner, Lane Purvis and Kevin McGovern.
Honorary Pallbearers were members of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
Special Musical Selections, “What a Friend We Have In Jesus” and “Victory in Jesus” was presented by the Congregation, with Clara Hayes, at the Keyboard, “Amazing Grace” was presented by the Soloist, Evan Brown, and the Congregation, with Clara Hayes, at the Keyboard, and “Life Is Like A Mountain Railroad” was presented by the Soloist, Evan Brown, with Clara Hayes, at the Keyboard. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by Clara Hayes, at the Keyboard.
Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
