Ausie Morris ‘Buddy’ Vaughn

Ausie Morris “Buddy” Vaughn, age 88, passed away on Wednesday September 26, 2018, at Vista Park following an extended illness. Mr. Vaughn was born on July 22, 1930 in Coffee County, the son of the late Ausie Vaughn and Mary Elizabeth Tarrant Vaughn.

 

He worked as a farmer and was a member of Jowers Chapel Holiness Baptist Church. He was known in his last days as “The Cowboy” at his last home at Vista Park, but he was “well known in these parts” for his beautiful steel guitar playing.

 

Mr. Vaughn was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Faye Vaughn, parents, Ausie and Mary Vaughn, and a sister, Ruth Vining.

 

Survivors include two daughters, Donna Childre (Greg) of Douglas and Vicki Nugent (Robin, Sr.) of Pearson; son, Andy Vaughn (Carole) of Douglas; nine grandchildren, Vaughn Childre (Jill), Anna Laura Lentz (Kurt), Candace Mizell (Eric), Crystal Nugent Morris (Bud), Robin Nugent, Jr., Cammie Jo Nugent, Melissa Moree (William), Tyler Vaughn (Lindsey), Andrea Vaughn; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services were held on Saturday September 29, 2018 at 11 am at Jowers Chapel Holiness Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Vaughn officiating and Andy Vaughn giving the eulogy. Interment followed at Stokesville Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Vaughn Childre, Kurt Lentz, Eric Mizell, Bud Morris, Robin Nugent, Jr, William Moree, Tyler Vaughn, and Dade Mizell.

 

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
