Firefighters visit West Green Pre-K

In recognition of Fire Prevention Week and West Green Elementary’s Community Helpers theme, members of Fire Station 6 paid a visit to West Green Elementary Pre-K on Oct. 3.

With a big, red fire truck, firefighters educated the children about the importance of fire safety. They got an up-close-and-personal look at the fire truck and had the opportunity to spray the fire hose.

On Oct. 16, Firefighter Ordell Foskey (Pre-K student Charli Foskey’s daddy) of Fire Station 3 stopped by West Green Pre-K to talk to the children about how to get out and stay out of the house if there’s a fire; to stop, drop and roll if their clothes are on fire; to never play with matches or lighters; call 9-1-1 in an emergency; and what a firefighter in full gear looks like.

Learning about fire safety, firetrucks and firefighters is not only fun for the children but will help them in case a real emergency were to occur in their homes.

Thank you to the firefighters from Fire Station 6 and Firefighter Ordell Foskey from Fire Station 3 for visiting us at West Green Pre-K.
