Republicans made a strong statement in Coffee County Tuesday night, winning all of the races on the ballot in convincing fashion. Turnout for the mid-term election was higher than it was four years ago; 11,639 voters cast ballots, a turnout of 53 percent.
The special local option sales tax for education (ESPLOST), the only local decision on the ballot, passed by a large margin, 7,392 to 3,478.
In the race for governor, Brian Kemp (R) defeated Stacey Abrams (D) and Ted Metz (L) 8,195 votes to 3,344 and 52, respectively. In the lieutenant governor’s election, Geoff Duncan (R) bested Sarah Amico 7,746 to 2,987.

- Public Service Commissioner #1: Eaton over Miller and Graham 7,879 to 3,212 and 181
- Public Service Commissioner #2: Pridemore over Randolph and Turpish 7,887 to 3.191 and 158
- U.S. House of Representatives District 12: Allen over Johnson 8,105 to 3,193
