The City of Douglas Community Development Department continues to accept registrations for the 55th Annual Festival of Lights Christmas Parade at the Douglas Visitor Information Center (Ashley-Slater House) located at 211 S. Gaskin Avenue. The parade theme for 2018 is “Celebrate the Music and Melodies of Christmas.”

The annual parade will be on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 6 p.m. “We chose a theme this year with hopes to see how everyone can bring to life their favorite Christmas song,” says Georgia Henderson, Community Development Director. “We encourage everyone to look outside the box to create floats with lots of lights and music this year that celebrate our all genres of Christmas music. We would like to see a record number of floats this year from our churches, industries, and local businesses.”

On Saturday, December 1, 2018, the parade will begin at 6 pm on Peterson Avenue, with lineup beginning from the First United Methodist Church to Walker Street. Applications may be picked up or dropped off at the Douglas Visitor Information Center, located at 211 S. Gaskin Avenue. The primary mission of the Annual Festival of Lights Parade is to provide a safe, enjoyable, and quality family environment, in and on the streets of Douglas. For more information about the Festival of Lights Christmas Parade, please call (912) 383-0277 or email info@cityofdouglas.com, or visit www.cityofdouglas.com/parade.
