By Kevin Tatum, County Extension Coordinator

We want to congratulate Savannah Cothern, Glenn O’Steen, and Jenna Sears for all receiving a blue ribbon, and J.C. Smith for all receiving a red ribbon with their 4-H mini-booths in the Okefenokee Agricultural Fair in Waycross during the week of November 6-10. Savannah Cothern prepared a booth on dairy foods, Glenn O’Steen’s booth was on bridges, Jenna Sears’ booth was on crocheting, and J.C. Smith’s booth was on the bass clarinet. Congratulations to each of our participants.

Coke/Krispy Kreme Fundraiser

To help 4-H members reduce their cost of attending summer camp, 4-H has planned a Coca-Cola Truckload Sale and Krispy Kreme Donut Sale. For each case of drinks you sell, $3 will be applied to your camp cost. For each dozen of donuts you sell, $2 will be applied to your camp cost. The more you sell, the lower your camp fee will be. The sales begin now and end Monday, December 17. Please collect the money when you make the sale. All order forms and money are due in the 4-H office on December 17 by 4 PM. The donuts and the drinks can be picked up at the 4-H office on Thursday, January 3 from 1-4 PM.  So have your parents pick up an order form from the 4-H office today.

4-H Adopt-A-Highway Workday

We would like to thank our 4-H members who turned out to help with the 4-H Adopt-A-Highway Workday on Thursday, November 15. Participants helped clean up the litter on East Ward Street between Coweta Avenue and Fast Chek Foods. Participants included: Coffee Middle School: Kayden Davis, Chloe Harper, Brianna Moreno, and Ariyah Scott. Junior 4-H Club: Nathan Cooper, Kilee Davis, Glenda Grantham, Abygail Harper, Natalie Newell, Glenn O’Steen, Janilla Warren, Carlee Woods, and Kalyn Woods. Pre-club helpers: Alyia Hall and Jessa Hall. Satilla: Aaron Chaney and May Belle Davis. Senior 4-H Club: Muskan Minhas and Ishika Sadarangani. Adults: Alyse Hall, Kevin Tatum, and Chalanda Woods.

Junior/Senior Project Achievement

Junior/Senior 4-H members need to be working on completing their DPA presentation as well as their portfolios. Portfolio FINAL COPIES are due in the county 4‑H office by Friday, December 14. Your presentation needs to be ready now so you will have time to practice it before the competition.  We want each of you to have a competitive portfolio and demonstration so you have a good chance of standing on the stage receiving a first place award.

Call or come by the 4‑H office today to sign up for a project (first come, first choice).  4‑H staff members will be happy to help you get started and answer any questions you have as you work on your presentation.

If you would like to learn how you can become more involved with the Coffee County 4-H program, please contact the Coffee County Extension office at (912) 384-1402 or visit our website at http://coffee4h.org.
