One person shot on Roper Street, no arrests

On Friday night, another shooting took place in Douglas, this time on the 600 block of Roper Street, just off South Gaskin Avenue.

 

According to a press release posted on the Douglas Police Department’s Facebook page, officers from the Douglas Police Department responded to a call of gunshots on Roper Street. They found that 19-year-old Aron J. Manley had suffered a gunshot wound to the left leg and was taken to Coffee Regional Medical Center.

 

Officers made contact with Manley at the hospital and he stated that he was with several other persons on Roper Street when an unknown individual drove up and started shooting. He was unable to provide police with any further information on the shooter or the make, model, color, or type of vehicle the shooter was in. One of the individuals that was at the scene with Manley provided officers with a description of the vehicle. This individual was unable to give the identity or a description of the shooter. Although there were other persons at or near the scene officers were unable to locate any other witnesses that were willing or able to provide any further information that would assist in identifying the person responsible.

 

The investigation is ongoing and investigators are working with the evidence collected from the scene and information given on the vehicle in an attempt to resolve this case.
