Florine Harper, age 91, of Douglas, passed away on Wednesday December 19, 2018 at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Harper was born on April 22, 1927 in Ambrose, the daughter of the late Willie Burl McLendon and Emma Carver McLendon.

 

She worked in the poultry industry and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

 

Mrs. Harper was preceded in death by her husband, John Edison Harper, and two brothers, Junior McLendon and Carlis McLendon.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Janice Harper Lewis of Douglas; two sons, John H. Harper of Broxton and Ronnie Harper of Douglas; sister, Grace Moore of Callahan, Fla.; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held on Sunday December 23, 2018 at 3 pm at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. L. G. Aldridge and Rev. Gerald Gardner. Interment will follow at Purvis Cemetery, Ambrose. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1 pm until 3 pm prior to the service.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
