Imagine you’ve invested countless hours sitting in lectures, completing assignments, attending clinicals, learning in labs, and studying only to learn that you have one more semester left and due to financial reasons you don’t feel you can finish. The HOPE grant covers only 70 percent of tuition and fees and nothing for books.  Often, students find themselves with a balance as they draw near the time of graduation.  The Wiregrass Foundation created a “Last Mile Fund” for those students who need extra help to endure the last balances so they can achieve their education goals and graduate.  Georgia Power Foundation has graciously presented the Wiregrass Foundation with a check for $5,500 to assist students who are in the final semester to graduate.

“Wiregrass appreciates the support of our friends at Georgia Power for their gift to the Wiregrass Last Mile Fund.  This will allow our graduates who may face financial issues not to have any worries as they plan for graduation and start job searching,” shared Dr. Tina K. Anderson, Wiregrass President.

To learn more about Wiregrass’ Foundation or to donate to the Last Mile Fund, please contact Crissy Staley, Wiregrass Executive Director of Fundraising, at 229-333-2124, or by email at Crissy.staley@wiregrass.edu .  To learn more about Wiregrass’ 160 programs, visit wiregrass.edu.  The college will begin accepting applications for new students for Spring Express Semester on January 22. Classes will begin on February 14.
