Jerry Wendell ‘Pee Wee’ Willis

Mr. Jerry Wendell “PeeWee” Willis, age 81 of Douglas, passed away early Sunday morning, February 17, 2019 at Coffee Regional Hospital, following an extended illness. Mr. Willis was born November 10, 1937 to the late Oscar Willis and the late Mae Dupree Willis. He was also preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Huggins Willis; a daughter, Wendy Darlene Bozeman; and two brothers, Bobby Willis and Randy Willis.

Mr. Willis was a native of Poulan in Worth County. He retired after a long career as a supervisor with Coats and Clark. He was a member of Worth County Lions Club and Poulan Baptist Church. Mr. Willis was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. 

Survivors include: daughter, Leisha Willis Burke and husband Billy of Broxton; sister Garland White and husband Hollis of Americus; grandson Clint Bozeman and wife Heidi of Lafayette, Louisiana; granddaughters Haley B. Thornton and husband Caleb of Nicholls, Brandy Burke Gray and husband Chris of Douglas, Chelsee Carver and husband Dewayne of Broxton, and Lauren Burke of Broxton great grandchildren Reanna and Reagan Given of Douglas and Josie Lynn Bozeman of Lafayette, Louisiana; caregivers Shirley Merritt and Courtney Kirkland of Douglas; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 3:30 P.M. at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with Mrs. Glenda Lang officiating. The interment will follow at Poulan City Cemetery in Poulan.

The family will receive friends, Monday evening, February 18, 2019 from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Ricketson Funeral Home. 

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
