Reva Hendley Steuwer Rollins, 89, of Douglas, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at The Landings of Douglas after several years of declining health.

 

She was born October 23, 1929, in Berrien County, to the late Archie and Elizabeth Fender Hendley.  She was of the Baptist faith and an active member of First Baptist Church in Douglas for over fifty years.

 

Mrs. Rollins is survived by her daughters, June (Mike) Smith of Broxton, Melissa (Len) Carter and Joey (Mike) Broadwater of Valdosta; her grandchildren, John Smith and Mark Smith of Broxton, Dori Carter of Oxford, Miss., Aldine (Kyle) Warner of Naylor, Layne Broadwater of New York City, and Colin Broadwater of Long Beach, Calif.; great grandchildren, Mallory Smith of Broxton and Bowen Warner of Naylor; sisters, Vernell Bauer of Dallas, Faye Mosley of Rocky Mount, N.C., Jean Hayes of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Helen Hall of Brooklet; sisters-in-law, Sarah Hendley and Kathleen Hendley of Nashville; and many nieces and nephews.

 

She was predeceased by her parents; her husbands, Karl Steuwer and Dennis Rollins, Sr.; sisters, Elma Durrance, Idell Dunn, Mary Griner, and Dorothy Moseley; and brothers, Bremen, Julian, Talmadge, Hilton, and Clifton Hendley.

 

The family would like to thank her caregivers and the staff of The Landings of Douglas and the staff of Bethany Hospice.

 

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 16, at 3:00 p.m. in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Don Hattaway and the Rev. Mike Broadwater officiating. Interment followed in Douglas City Cemetery.
