Ethel Mae Merrier Jones, age 79, of Douglas, passed away on Wednesday February 20, 2019 at Regency Hospital in Macon, surrounded by loved ones.  Mrs. Jones was born on May 29, 1939 in Atkinson County, the daughter of the late Joseph Merier and Sybil Sirmans Merier.

 

She was a wife, homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and an active part of her husband’s ministry for over 40 years. Mrs. Jones was a member Harvest Time Church of God. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Smith and a sister, Martha Dillingham.

 

Survivors include her husband, Rev. Levi Jones of Douglas; two sons, Levi Michael Jones (Donna) of Hilliard, Fla., and Daniel Jones (Leigh) of Warner Robins; daughter, Loretta Jones Courdle of Brunswick; son-in-law, Lamar Smith of Douglas; nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; four brothers, Alton Lee (Deloris) of Kingsland, Lindsey Lee (Avie) of Abbeville, S.C., Henry Merier (Sandra) of Jesup, and Carroll Merier (Debbie) of Woodbine; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services were held on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 4 pm at Harvest Time Church of God with Rev. Glenn Fussell and Rev. Gary Lewis officiating.  Interment followed at Lax Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
