Rev. Grady Vernon Seawright, age 76 of Douglas, passed away Friday evening, February 22, 2019 at his residence following a short illness. Rev. Seawright was born January 6, 1943 to the late Clyde Vernon Seawright and the late Gladys Faulkner Seawright. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Esther Reese Day and Meliah Jade Stevens and seven siblings, Evelyn Hand, Louise Fallin, Jeanette Bozeman, Hazel Jones, J. L. Seawright, James Seawright and Luther Seawright.
Rev. Seawright, a native of Thomas County, was a minister of the gospel. He founded Last Days True Holiness Church and Solomon Bridge Church. He was a radio minister and the manager of WOKA for 14 years. He was known as “The Sunshine Man” by his loving and caring radio audience.
Survivors include: Children Selena Day of Broxton, Gary Vernon Seawright of Douglas, and Grady Timothy Seawright of Douglas; brother Eldon Seawright of Ochlocknee; sisters Annie Ruth Peacock of Meigs and Dorothy Lewis of Coolidge; seven grandchildren, Travis Day of Andalusia, Ala., Ellie Hoopiiaina of Willacoochee, Rachel Padgett of Jesup, Matthew Seawright of Willacoochee, Michaela Seawright of Douglas, Calix Seawright of Douglas, and Palin Seawright of Douglas; nine great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends
The funeral service will be Monday, February 25, 2019 at 4:00 P.M. at New Corinth Calvary Holiness Church in Ben Hill County with Rev. Jody Silvers, Rev. Tim Mock and Rev. Travis Day officiating. The interment will follow in New Corinth Cemetery.
