Richard Lee Ansel, age 83, of Douglas, passed away on Tuesday March 5, 2019 at Pruitt Health in Ocilla. Mr. Ansel was born on July 14, 1935 in Lexington, Ohio the son of the late Wayne Ansel and Ruth A. Stubbs Ansel.

He worked as a salesman with Walmart, was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. Mr. Ansel was of the Catholic faith. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jacob Ansel.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Ansel of Douglas; three sons, Ricky Ansel Jr. of Lewiston, Maine, Michael Ansel of Douglas, and Mathew Ansel of Douglas; daughter, Pamela Bonesteel of Ohio; five grandchildren, Landon Ansel, Jaden Ansel, Alex Ansel, Chenice Bonesteel and Chris Bonesteel; great grandchildren, Jaden Rodriquez and Karson Rodriquez; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday March 7, 2019 at 5 pm at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clyde Purvis officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 4 pm to 5 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorialization is by cremation.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
